My Food Guide ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). 2. Information We Collect

- Account information — name and email address when you create an account.
- Food log data — the foods you search for and log, meal times, and portion sizes.
- Goals and settings — your calorie, protein, fiber, and custom nutrient targets, and screen time preferences.
- Screen time data — earned and used screen time minutes, stored locally on your device. We do not transmit raw screen usage data to our servers.
- Usage data — app interactions, feature usage, and crash reports, collected in aggregate to improve the Service.
- Device information — device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
- Personalise your experience and remember your preferences.
- Sync your food log and settings across devices when you are signed in.
- Send transactional emails (e.g. account verification, password reset).
- Analyse usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use your food or health data for advertising purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your account data is stored on secure servers provided by Google Firebase. Food log entries and settings are encrypted in transit using TLS. Screen time enforcement data is processed entirely on-device and is not uploaded to our servers.
While we implement industry-standard safeguards, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party APIs to provide food data. These providers have their own privacy policies:
- USDA FoodData Central — public domain food database (no personal data shared).
- Edamam — food and nutrition data API.
- Nutritionix — branded and restaurant food database.
- FatSecret — food database API.
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and analytics.
We only share the minimum information necessary with these services (e.g. a food search query). We do not share your name, email, or health data with food API providers.
6. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Opt out of non-essential communications.
